The Skill of Wealth
We go to school to learn a skill.
We learn medicine, accounting, nursing, masonry, trades- but why?
It's a means to an end.
A fulfilling vocation which will, we hope, deliver some meaning and secure us enough resources to live well.
But we rarely question this process. We accept it as the way life is. But how do you go to school to create a future to spec?
What major allows you to run a 6 or 7 figure business from anywhere on the planet with a laptop and wifi access?
What kind of a school teaches you how to separate how you make money from how you spend the majority of your waking hours?
How do you make money on a scale that isn't connected to your hours+your skills?
They don't teach it. They can't teach it. There isn't a path for that.
Every year, thousands of students graduate with degrees and hundreds of thousands in college debt— and zero marketable skills.
I'm not sure how long after they realize they've bought into the lie, or if they ever do.
If you want the 6 or 7 figure income and time freedom, the skill you seek is value creation.
Create value for others and wealth is generated as a byproduct.
Your ability to create value, and capture wealth as a byproduct, is the ultimate skill of the business owner.
Much of this requires you create your own curriculum.
Find the courage and playful curiosity to bring those ideas to life.
Unless you want to have a life that is directed by others, you need to decide for yourself what to do and you need to have the courage to do it. — Ray Dalio
